The department was first opened as Ankara University Energy and Materials Engineering in 2015. As of 2022, it continues its education and reseach activities as the Energy Systems Engineering Department.
The language of education is 100% English, thus, there is compulsory language training. But those who score at least 70 points from the exemption exam held by our university may skip the English language training.
The education program comprised of must courses of mathematics, physics, chemistry and computer programming in the first year and basic engineering courses in 2nd and 3rd grades. In the 3rd and 4th grades, must courses are complemented by departmental elective courses on energy related topics. For graduation, 162 ECTS of compulsory courses, 64 ECTS of field elective courses, 14 ECTS of non-field elective courses and 40 working days of internship are required. The students who meet the 240 ECTS graduation criteria receive the title of ‘Energy Systems Engineer’.
